Development is the second album from American psytrance producer Prismaspect.
develop:
-to go through a process of natural growth, differentiation, or evolution by successive changes
-to create or produce especially by deliberate effort over time
Life is a series of changes. Music is too.
Sonata-allegro form is a musical structure first utilized in the early classical era (mid 18th century). It consists of three main parts: the exposition, the development, and the recapitulation. Jovian Orchestra was my exposition in 2022. It set the stage for my growing musical catalog. For the development, I decided to interpret the term in a broader sense, rather than simply continuing to work with any of the first album’s musical themes. In addition to the dictionary definitions above (there are surprisingly many more too!), Development represents an evolution in my sound—in quality of production and the range of compositional stylings—as well as deliberate intention setting for everything I continue to produce. If we don’t grow we don’t develop. If we don’t develop, we stay stagnant—our light growing weaker in the stasis of our own undoing.
Anywho, I like big lead synth sounds with those classic 80’s timbres, so you’ll hear some of that interspersed. Aside from a short section in Synapse Luminescene and the tail end of the album, the orchestra sections with strings and whatnot are gone this time around (though they will be back in the future). Rest assured, the “every track is a story” Prismaspect signature is still present. There are quite a few big moments, as well as some experimental flavor and nerdy stuff from my own interests. For example, the track “Red Brinstar” is inspired by my favorite retro video game Super Metroid. “Endeavour” includes real coms communications from the launch of the space shuttle that carried the first parts of the ISS. “Kitsune” is a collaboration with long time psytrance veteran and friend Kri Samadhi. All in all, this one was a fun one to make. I hope you enjoy!
